Craving for Pani Paris in NJ in an Indian setup? Look no further than Hot Breads. By Indian setup, I meant how you don't take a seat in a restaurant and wait for the puris to be served in a plate. This is proper Indian way of eating pani puris where you stand, hold a cup and gobble the puris the shop person continuously shoots at you, while racing against time. We brought one of our American friends to this place to get him have a taste of what a Pani puri was and we were glad they didn't disappoint us. We paid at the counter, took the bowls and got ready to be bombarded with the puris. The specialty about this place is that they have an array of different 'paanis'/flavored waters - Ginger, mango, mint, hing, regular jaljeera and a lot more stationed in a cart. Just wish that the lady on the cart was more hospitable. Also, we once got a Blackforest cake from here and it was well made.

Pretty much the only place I'm aware of in the immediate NYC area with "live" pani puri. And we all know gol gappe don't taste as good when you have to spoon water into them on a plate. Not a huge fan of the ragda option, but I guess that shows you how authentically Maharashtran the pani puri is here. I preferred the aloo with the khatta meetha pani. The ginger pani was too spicy for my taste - it actually burned my throat as I was downing it, so will skip that one next time.

Pani Puri lovers, this is the place you must try. I have been coming here only for Pani Puri and I love everytime. Serving time and serving person changes everytime but the taste remains same and is always amazing. They have 6 different flavors of water(ginger, garlic, sweet, mngo, jaljeera and hing). Among all of these, mango and sweet flavors are my favorite. Coming to stuffing, they have potatoes and chickpeas both mixed with onions. You can also ask for more onions on top. Weekends are always crowded, have to wait for 10-15 mins for the turn as they only serve 4-5 people at one time. You get 8 Pani Puris for 5$. For me its a perfect snack :D. I have also bought a black forest cake and tasted a pineapple pastry from here which is absoulety delicious. If you are looking for Indian style cakes or pastries, this is the place. I have already recommended this place to my friends who wants to have Indian style pineapple, butterscotch and black forest flavor pastries. They also have eggless cakes/pastries which are made and available on request.

If you are a golgappe lover this place is a must try !!!! I have just tried golgappe from this place so my review on based the same. Really enjoyed the 6 types of water - each water had a different flavour to it. My favourite was mango :) Golgappe were fresh and were hand served like we get back in India. Golgappe had a choice of two stuffing - regular potato and black chickpea and warm ragda.
